The Japan Meteorological Agency announced on 29 March that cherry blossom (Yoshino Cherry) trees had flowered in Tokyo and Kyoto.
This year, cherry blossoms are in bloom later than usual.
In general, cherry trees are in full bloom about a week after they start to blossom. However, in the colder the region, the speed of reaching full bloom is faster, and in the northern Tohoku region the time from bloom to full bloom is as short as four to five days.
